Ballad in Sepia (Trp. Vibraphone)

A ballad based on some of the Jazz idioms. Needless to say, the essence of Jazz is the improvisation. The composer repeated virtual improvisations many times and had tried to capture the spirit of the music. While the idea of the music can be performed by from a piece of wood to a fully arranged big band, here the spirit of the tune is projected into the sound space to be created by duo of a trumpet and a vibraphone. The notes on the sheet are only projected “shadow” of the music. The premiere by Messrs. Kiyonori Sokabe (trp.) and Mizuki Aida (Vib.) made the shadow into the full body of music on July 3, 2018 in Tokyo. The composer thanks them for their advice and fabulous performance.
